Relationship between Organizational Justice and Organizational Citizenship Behavior among the Staff of Golestan University of Medical Sciences

Background: Organizational justice (OJ) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) are important organizational variables, which have great effect on improving the performance of staff and organization. Considering the importance of this issue, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between OJ and OCB among staff of Golestan University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: In this survey study, the population was the staff of Golestan University of Medical Sciences with a sample size of 169 ones. Data were collected using questionnaires of OJ and OCB, and analyzed by using descriptive-analytic tests and SPSS18.
Findings: Among them, 135 (79.9%) were female and the most ethnicity (152 (90%)) was Fars (Persia) and Turkmen. The means of OJ and OCB scores were 3.95±0.589 and 3.97±0.530, respectively. There was a significant relationship between OJ and OCB (r=0.385, p=0.003). In addition, a significant correlation was found between interpersonal and procedural justice with OCB (P=0.000), and there was a significant positive relationship between sub-indicators of OCB and OJ.
Conclusion: Considering the relationship between OJ and OCB and the existence of positive relationships among staff in organizational activities via facilitating the achievement of organizational goals for improving the performance, some strategies for OJ should be developed to enhance the citizenship behavior.
