Assessment of performance of Work Teams in of Abadan School of Medical Sciences: Managers and Experts' Perspectives

Background: Work teams provide good platforms for optimal use of organizational capacities and have always been considered as one of the important factors in promoting productivity and increasing satisfaction among employees. This study aimed at understanding the function and effectiveness of Abadan School of Medical Sciences.

Methods: In this descriptive- analytic study, conducted in 2014. This survey was conducted on managers and experts of Abadan School of Medical Sciences. Data collection was done using a researcher made questionnaire, 9 demographic variables and 8 questions were included about teams. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 23.0 at a significant level of α <0.05.

Findings: Of the 139 samples, 95 patients (68.3%) in at least one work teams to a maximum of eight work teams and had a total of 262 teams members. Of organizational domains, 224 (85.5%) domestic teams, 27 (3.10%) academic teams and 11 (2.4%) was the provincial team. 80% of the membership was with official notification, and 68.8% with invitation to the meeting. Deployment level, assessment, renovation and effectiveness of work teams, from managers and experts' perspectives, was 3.25±0.9, 3.16±1.0, 3.32±1.0, respectively. There was a significant difference Between education, employment environment and deployment level, between the place of employment, occupational and assessment, renovation, between education, place of work, employment environment, the organization and effectiveness of work teams(P<0.05).

Conclusion: The study found that about two-thirds of people with functional work teams involved at the intermediate level.it is recommended to design and implement intervention programs leading to improved performance
